My Journey

My journey through food began at a young age when Nonna (dad's mom, Italian for grandmother) individually packaged homemade mini-meatballs for me. At the same time, I observed and learned how to make scrambled eggs from my Grandma (mom's mom) when I was four, often waking up before everyone in the house and cracking and beating the eggs myself (I would get everything ready except turn the stove on, I was only 4!) Throughout the years, my mom and both my grandmothers loved to have me in the kitchen, teaching me how to cook their favorite dishes and recipes.

At the age of 10, I found my true calling, baking brownies! It all started with that "Look and Cook" cookbook on one Sunday afternoon. I asked my mom if I could bake something and she said, "Sure, Lia! Do you need any help?" "No thank you!" I replied. Within a matter of a few hours, I made my first batch of brownies all by myself. Let me tell you, these brownies are to die for! They have this ooey, gooey melt-in-your-mouth appeal. They are perfect served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top! Over the years I have learned how to perfect my craft and was commissioned a few times by family members to bake my brownies for parties and events.

When I moved away for college and lived in a dorm, I was so upset I could not continue to cook as I did not have a kitchen. Microwave foods do not taste the same. I tried making pasta one time, it was a horrible, rubbery mess! In my junior year, I moved off-campus and finally had a kitchen again. Albeit small, but a working stove and oven. No matter how big or small, I took pictures of pretty much every dish I made.

Since then, I have been cooking up a storm! Being out of school, I have more time to cook and try new foods. I want to share my delicious dishes with you and show you how to make them on my YouTube channel.
