Asian Chicken Meatballs

Ingredients

Meatball

  • 1 pound ground chicken

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 egg

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper


Sauce

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup water

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch


Garnish

  • Scallions, chopped

  • Sesame seeds


Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with some parchment paper

  2. Thoroughly combine all the meatball ingredients (ground chicken, panko, minced garlic, ground ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, egg, salt, and black pepper) in a large bowl

    1. Use your hands to mix all the ingredients together

  3. Roll the mixture into 1 inch even sized balls

  4. Place each rolled meatball onto the prepared tray

    1. You should have around 24 to 30 meatballs

  5. Baked the meatballs at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes or until the meatballs are slightly browned on the outside and cooked through

  6. While the meatballs are baking, whisk together the glaze ingredients in a small saucepan

  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, whisking until the sauce begins to thicken. Then remove from heat

  8. Remove the cooked meatballs from the oven and transfer to a small dish

  9. Pour the glaze all over the meatballs and toss to coat

  10. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and slivered scallions

  11. Serve as appetizers with toothpicks or as a main dish with rice
