Cranberry Orange Cookies

Ingredients
Cookie
¾ cup butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
2 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup dried cranberries, chopped
Orange sugar
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
Steps
In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup of sugar and ½ heaping teaspoon of freshly grated orange zest and set aside
Cream the butter and the sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy
Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed
Add the egg and and orange zest mix until well combined
Add the baking powder and baking soda and mix again
Gradually add the flour to the mixer bowl, mixing on low speed between each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl
Add in the dried, chopped cranberries beating until just mixed
Roll small teaspoonfuls of dough into a ball and roll the ball in the orange sugar
Place the orange sugar covered dough ball on a parchment paper lined tray
Flatten the cookie with the bottom of a glass to 1 inch circles
Keep the cookies an inch apart
Bake the cookies in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes
Remove from the oven and allow to completely cool on the cookie sheet
