Christmas Cookies in July: Part 1

Note: This recipe reflects the doubled ingredient amounts from my video.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups flour (plus more for surface)

  • 2 cups butter (softened)

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons milk

Steps

  1. In a standard mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy

  2. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla and beat until combined

  3. Add in baking powder and salt

  4. Gradually add in flour until totally combined

  5. Divide the dough in two balls and wrap in plastic wrap

  6. Refrigerate at least 2 hours

  7. When ready to roll, preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper

  8. Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out dough until ⅛” to ¼“ thick

  9. Cut out shapes and transfer to prepared baking sheets

  10. Bake cookies until edges are lightly golden, 8 to 10 minutes

  11. Let cool, then frost and decorate as desired
