Focaccia Bread
Ingredients
1 ⅓ cup warm water (about 110 degrees Fahrenheit)
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons instant yeast
3 ¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried basil
3 tablespoons olive oil
Topping
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried rosemary
½ teaspoon dried parsley
Steps
Add warm water and sugar to a bowl of a stand mixer
Sprinkle in the yeast and set aside
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, salt, oregano and basil
Gradually add the flour mix and olive oil to the water mixture while running the mixer on low using the dough hook
Continue to mix the dough until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl
Transfer the dough to an olive oil greased heat safe bowl and cover with tin foil
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and turn the oven off
Place the covered bowl in the warm oven and let it rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in size
Then transfer the dough to 9 by 13 inch thoroughly butter greased baking pan
Spread the dough with your hands to cover the entire pan and use your fingertips to poke dimples in the dough
Drizzle the dough with 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Combine the remaining oregano, rosemary, and parsley with the parmesan cheese and spread the seasoning mixture all over the top of the focaccia
Cover the pan with a damp tea towel and allow to rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
Bake the focaccia bread in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes
Remove the focaccia bread from the oven to take it out of the pan and cut, serve, and enjoy
