2 pounds fresh green beans
1 10.5 ounce can cream of chicken soup
1 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese blend
1 ½ cup French fried onions, divided
Black pepper
Steps
Wash, trim, and cut 2 pounds of fresh green beans into one to two inch pieces (you want at least 4 cups of green beans)
Bring a large pot of water to a boil
Place the green beans in the boiling water and blanch for 6 to 8 minutes until just tender
Drain the green beans and run under cold water to shock and stop the cooking process
In a large bowl, combine 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of milk, 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese blend, and half of the fried onions
Add the drained green beans and stir
Season with some black pepper to taste
Lightly grease a 9 inch by 13 inch baking dish
Transfer the green bean mixture to the baking dish
Bake the green bean casserole at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes
Remove the casserole from the oven and top with the remaining half of the fried onions
Bake for 5 more minutes until the onions are golden brown
