Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
2 pounds potatoes, mix of Yukon gold and red
4 tablespoons butter
½ cup heavy cream
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste
Steps
Chop 2 pounds worth of potatoes, a mix of yukon gold and red potatoes, into quarters
Add all the potatoes to a large pot and fill with enough water to just cover the potatoes
Place the pot of potatoes and water on the stove, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat
Remove the lid when the water is boiling, lower the heat to medium low and simmer to cook the potatoes for 20 minutes
Drain the potatoes after they are fork tender
With the potatoes back in the pot, simply mash them using a potato masher
Next add 4 tablespoons butter to the potatoes followed by a ½ cup heavy cream
Mash and stir the potatoes with the butter and heavy cream until combined
Season the potatoes with some salt, plenty of black pepper, and a dash of garlic powder to taste
Stir the mashed potatoes in with the seasonings until everything is incorporated
Transfer the finished mashed potatoes to a serving bowl to serve and enjoy
