Old Bay Biscuits
Ingredients
For the biscuit
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon Old Bay
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 stick butter, cold and cubed
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
For the topping
3 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon Old Bay
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
Steps
In the bowl of a food processor, add 2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Cover the bowl with the lid and pulse the flour mixture together until everything is combined
Add 1 stick of cold cubed butter to the flour mixture
Pulse the butter with the flour until the mixture is crumbly
Pour in 1 cup of buttermilk flour and butter mixture
Place the lid on the bowl and pulse until a shaggy down is formed
Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the dough and pulse to combine
Use a knife to spread the dough apart a bit in the bowl
Add a second cup of shredded cheddar cheese and pulse again
Spoon 2 tablespoonful size clumps of biscuit dough out from the bowl and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet
Continue spooning the dough out and placing on the prepared tray
Use your fingertips to gently pinch and pat each biscuit dough ball to form an even round shaped mound
Bake the biscuits in the oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 9 to 12 minutes
While the biscuits are baking, melt 3 tablespoons of butter
To the melted butter, add a ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon of dried parsley flakes
Stir the melted butter with the seasonings to combine
Remove the biscuits from the oven
With the biscuits fresh out of the oven, brush each biscuit with some of the seasoned butter topping, covering each biscuit until you’ve used all the butter
