Sweet & Savory Popcorn

Ingredients

Sweet

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 2 chocolate bars, melted

  • Caramel sauce


Savory

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese


Steps

Sweet

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to a heavy duty saucepan

  2. Add ½ cup of uncooked popcorn kernels to the pot

  3. Gently move the pan to coat the popcorn kernels with the oil

  4. Cover tightly with a lid and turn the stove on medium-high heat

  5. When you hear the first sound of the popcorn popping, lift the pan off the heat, while keeping the lid securely closed and shake the pan back and forth

  6. Alternate between shaking the pan so the popcorn does not stick or burn to the bottom with letting the popcorn pop over the heat

  7. When the popping noises slow down and stop, completely take the pot off the heat and remove the lid

  8. Combine 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  9. Transfer the warm, popped popcorn to a large bowl and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mix on top

  10. Toss the popcorn to coat with the cinnamon sugar

  11. Drizzle some melted chocolate and caramel sauce all over the popcorn

  12. Toss the popcorn again to cover in the chocolate and caramel


Savory

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to a heavy duty saucepan

  2. Add ½ cup of uncooked popcorn kernels to the pot

  3. Add the salt, garlic powder, chili powder, basil and oregano on top

  4. Stir with wooden spoon to coat the popcorn kernels in the oil and seasonings

  5. Cover tightly with a lid and turn the stove on medium-high heat

  6. When you hear the first sound of the popcorn popping, lift the pan off the heat, while keeping the lid securely closed and shake the pan back and forth

  7. Alternate between shaking the pan so the popcorn does not stick or burn to the bottom with letting the popcorn pop over the heat

  8. When the popping noises slow down and stop, completely take the pot off the heat and remove the lid

  9. Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese over the warm popcorn and stir to cover

  10. Transfer to a bowl to serve
